Wuhan Machine Tool Co., Ltd. was formerly known as Ruan Hengchang Machine Manufacturing Factory, established in 1928. In 1951, it was taken over by the Wuhan Municipal People's Government and subsequently merged with Qiao Xingfa Hardware Machinery Factory and Datong Machinery Factory, changing its name to Wuhan Machine Tool Factory. It was listed as a key enterprise for the production of tools and tool grinding machines nationwide, becoming one of the "Eighteen Arhats" factories in the machine tool industry.

　　In 2013, with the approval of the Wuhan State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, Wuhan Machine Tool Factory was renamed Wuhan Machine Tool Co., Ltd. The enterprise relocated from Dongxihu District to its new address in Jiangxia District, becoming a wholly state-owned subsidiary of Wuhan Industrial Holdings Group.

　　After more than 60 years of development and the hard work of generations of Wuhan Machine Tool people, the company has become a backbone enterprise and export base for the manufacture of tools and tool grinding machines in China. It mainly produces seven categories and more than 30 types of CNC products, including universal tool grinders, hob and broach grinders, and five-axis CNC universal tool grinders. These products are exported to countries such as the United States, Germany, Poland, Turkey, and Southeast Asia. It also provides manufacturing and sharpening services for various high-end special cutting tools such as hobs, broaches, and milling cutters.
